Starting Line Up: Storm, Cyclops, Nightcrawler, Wolverine, Colossus, Sprite

Synopsis: Storm and Cyclops are playing a variation of the game squash, but with their mutant powers instead of rackets. They got the idea from Wolverine and Nightcrawler's hunting games since the Danger Room is still broken. After hours of play, they end in an exhausted tie. Meanwhile, Corsair is headed to Earth, but is being followed by the Shi'Ar. Meanwhile, off Bermuda, Xavier has taken the rest of the team and Carol Danvers to Magneto's island to get away since they have been attacked at the mansion so often and Xavier wants to learn what he can from Magneto's left over files. Wolverine tries to have a chat with the amnesiac Danvers, saying he knew her during his time in the Canadian Secret Service. She gets frustrated and being unable to remember. Meanwhile, Corsair gets closer. Back at the mansion, Cyclops and Storm read mail. Storm gets a postcard from Kitty, and Cyclops gets an official letter of dismissal for Kitty from Emma Frost's Massachuesets Academy. The two finally have a discussion on leadership of the X-Men. Storm admits she's not as good as Cyclops, but he admits he's not sure if he wants the job back. Before the discussion can go anywhere, Corsair's ship goes screaming overhead and lands in the lake. They save him just before his ship explodes. When he wakes up, Corsair finds Cyclops demanding to know where he got his father's military dogtags and pictures of him and Havok as children. Corsair admits he's his father. Storm, the only other living person to know, confirms it. Just then they are attacked by Sidrian Hunters (a mechanical spider like hunter). They swarm the mansion and the three fight them off. Corsair knows the Shi'Ar would never use the Sidrians, so he reasons it must Lilandra's kidnappers who sent them. Cyclops and Corsair head for the Blackbird while Storm holds the hunters off. Corsair thinks Cyclops is cold for leaving her behind, so he decks his own father! Once the Blackbird is ready, Storm catches up and joins them. When they take off, they see that mansion, this time, has been totally destroyed by the swarm. The Sydrian Hunters then come together and form a large flying version of themselves to chase the Blackbird. Cyclops blasts it, but it does no good. Corsair explains some pseudo-scince which basically comes down to hit them harder. They try a double team attack with Storm using lightning from outside the Blackbird. It works and the hunters fall back into their individual selves over a petrolium storage facility. Corsair tells Cyclops to kill them, at which point Cyke realises the things arn't robots and refuses. Corsair explains they will keep coming until they're dead, so he blasts the petrolium and destroys them all (as well as everything around the facility). Cyclops and Storm are extremely upset, but he explains it was worth the sacrafice of lives. He finally explains that the Shi'Ar were attacked by violent rebels who took Lilandra captive and Corsair's Starjammers were framed for it. They also left an evidence trail leading to Earth. A large star fleet has been sent to Earth, to either liberate Lilandra... or avenge her by destroying the Earth.
Yeah, but is it good? This was a good action issue, as well as a good Cyclops issue. We finally get the issue of team leadership brought up, although it isn't resolved. More importantly, Cyclops finally finds out Corsair is his father. And he immediately hates the bastard! Corsair tries to be nice to Cyke, but Cyclops is all business with him. And detestes just about everything he does in this issue. Now that's a father/son relationship. That rebellion plot first mention back in Annual #5 is brought up again here and will lead into another epic storyline that will go for many issues. So get ready!
Significata: Cyclops finds out Corsair is his father. The mansio is totally destroyed. The X-Men ahve relocated to Magneto's island anyway. The Shi'Ar rebellion plot is set into motion. Lilandra has been kidnapped and the Starjammers framed. Wolverine reveals he knew Carol Danvers from his time in Canadian SS and hers in the US Air Force.
