Synopsis: Kitty watches in horror as Colossus is frozen solid. She contacts Xavier through the mental rapport. He alerts Storm, Wolverine, and Nighcrawler, but not Rogue, since it involves the Brotherhood. Storm and Wolverine are in the Danger Room and take off immediately. Xavier is struck by mental scanning probe or great power, but it only worries him not harms him. Kitty remebers reading of an invention by Mr. Fantastic that might be able to help Colossus. She calls the Fantastic Four, but gets no answer. She decides to go there herself. Meanwhile, on the lower east side, Callisto, Sunder, and Masque of the Morlocks fight a young, dead junkie girl in an alley. Masque uses his power to make the girl look like Kitty. Back at Lincoln Center, Nightcrawler and Amanda Sefton's makeout session is intterupted by the Brotherhood's attack. They try to fight, but are captured by the Blob. Storm and Wolverine finally arrive to help. Kitty arrives at the Baxter Building and sneaks into the FF headquarters, past all their safeguards. She finds the device, then tries to escape through the roof. As she tries to cross from one building to the other, she loses her powers and starts to fall. Back at the battle, the X-Men defeat the Brotherhood. They easily surrender, not fearing jail because they know Mystique will get them out soon. Blob then reveals the whole attack was just a distraction. Back at the mansion, Xavier senses a psionic blocking field, but it's from a different source from the scanning wave. Rogue enters to check on him. She pulls a gun and shoots him. He manages to get out of the way enough to avoid a fatal shot. As she stands over the injured Xavier, the real Rogue enters the room. The fake is obviously Mystique. Rogue explains to her she isn't been forced. She needs Xavier's help to help her control her power. She says she still loves Mystique, but she can't help her. Mystique contacts the X-Men and trades Xavier's life for the Brotherhood's freedom. The X-Men agree. Wolverine threatens to kill them sooner or later because of what they did to Colossus. Destiny warns them of danger happening to Kitty. Outside the Baxter Building, the police are trying to identify a suspected jumper. It's Kitty.

Yeah, but is it good? This is a largely forgettable story. The whole point was to establish Rogue as sincere and not a traitor to the X-Men. Which is fine, but everyone knew that anyway. What everyone wants to know is what is Mystique's connection to Nightcrawler. The real shocker here is the two part story ends and Colossus is still a frozen statue! But then again, it ended with a dead Kitty (roadkill), so I guess the story isn't quit finished yet. Still, two X-Men "dead" at one time is pretty bad for the team. Oh and that scanning wave that hit Xavier is the Beyonder from the upcoming Secret Wars series. I'll explain that one where we get there.

Signicata: Rogue is sincere in her plea for help from Xavier. Mystique accepts it. Xavier scanned by Beyonder. Kitty dead too?
