X-Men #10 (Mar 65): The Coming of... Ka-Zar! Creative Team: Stan Lee, writer; Jack Kirby, artist; Chic Stone, inker; S. Rosen, letterer;
Starting Line Up: Cyclops, Iceman, Angel, Beast, Marvel Girl
Synopsis: The X-Men are bored, so they go investigate a wildman spotted in Antarctica, knowing full well he isn't a mutant. They meet Ka-Zar and he takes them to the Savage Land. They fight Ka-Zar's enemy, Maa-Gor. That's about it.
Yeah, but is it good? It's not much of an X-Men story. It reads more like a Fantastic Four story of the time. It's pretty significant since this is the debut of Ka-Zar (and his sabertooth tiger, Zabu), but you'd figure they would want to put that story in a more popular comic like the FF. But maybe they didn't have any intention of using Ka-Zar much. Still... it would have made more sense if they THOUGHT he was a mutant, investigated, and then discovered he wasn't.
Significata: First appearance of Ka-Zar and Zabu. First appearance of the Savage Land.
