X-Men #16 (Jan 66): The Supreme SacrificeCreative Team: Stan Lee, story; Jack Kirby, layouts; Jay Gavin, pencilling; Dick Ayers, delineation; Art Simek, letterer
Starting Line Up: Cyclops, Iceman, Angel, Beast, Marvel Girl
Synopsis: Xavier has the army fly a huge crystal over the Sentinels base. They escape. Bolivar Trask sacrifices himself to destroy Master Mold and the rest of the Sentinels.
Yeah, but is it good? Not much happening here. Just more fighting robots. The point that was made in part one of the story, that of humans blindly fearing mutants to the point on capturing them, is pushed aside for a story about robots taking over the world. Trask sacrificing himself in order to save both humans and mutants would have been more poignant had he been around longer than three issues.
Significata: Trask sacrifices himself to destroy the Sentinels. Master Mold is destroyed.
