X-Men #18 (Mar 66): If Iceman Should Fail..!

Creative Team: a fair story by Stan Lee; adequate art by Jay Gavin; tolerable inking by Dick Ayers; the world's greatest lettering by Artie Simek (Marvel's birthday boy of the month!)

Starting Line Up: Cyclops, Iceman, Angel, Beast, Marvel Girl

Synopsis: The X-Men come up with a plan to escape, but need Iceman to hold off Magneto until they arrive. Xavier mentally snaps him out of his daze and has him return to the mansion. Magneto is using Angel's parents' DNA to create an army of zombie mutants to help him conquor the world. We get a flashback on Magneto on the Stranger's world where he salvaged some technology and got a spaceship working, leaving Toad behind. Iceman does his best against Magneto until the rest of the team arrive. They hold off Magneto until Xavier can summon the Stranger. Magneto feels with the Stranger chasing after him. Xavier whips Angel's parents' memories.

Yeah, but is it good? The camp continues with Magneto's army of mutant zombies, but there's some good in this one. Iceman heroically fights the X-Men's arch enemy all alone until the rest of the team arrives. Our little (ice) man is growing up.

Significata: I can't think of anything to put here.
