At a hospital morgue, Storm, Wolverine, and Rogue go to identify Kitty's body. The body they are shown looks like her, but Wolverine can tell it isn't. Back at the mansion, Xavier and Nightcrawler are still trying to determine if Colossus is still alive in his frozen state. Storm mentally contacts Xavier and tells him that they believe Kitty is still alive... and know who took her. Xavier is then attacked by the mental scanning wave again. Back underground, Kitty is having the illusion of a grand formal wedding. When she lays eyes on her groom, Caliban, the illusion is shattered and she snaps back to reality. She tries to escape, but her powers have been nullified somehow. Callisto then reminds Kitty of her vow to stay with Caliban and makes her feel guilty. She then remembers Colossus' condition. She tries to convince the Morlocks to let her go so she can save Colossus and once again promises to return and stay. Callisto doesn't believe her. Kitty tries to run, but has no idea where to go. She's led back to the Morlocks by Leech, a mutant who nullifies mutant powers. Kitty agrees to stay, but begs Callisto to help Colossus. She agrees and sends Leech to fetch the Healer. Masque tries to rearrage Kitty's face so she'll match the rest of the Morlocks, but Callisto makes him stop. The wedding ceremony is about to begin but is interrupted by the X-Men. The X-Men attack but Kitty stops them and tells them she chose to stay. The fight stops and they all go to the mansion to help Colossus. Rogue absorbs his powers, so he can no longer be frozen metal, and the Morlock healer immediately heals the human form of Colossus before he can die. Rogue is in a great deal of pain, but it will only be temporary. Storm is impressed and feels Rogue has finally earned her spot on the team. Later, Kitty says her goodbye to Illyana and heads into the sewers. She's greeted by Caliban. He realises despite his love she will never feel the same, so he releases her of her vow. She leaves as his friend.
Yeah, but is it good? Again, I'm not a fan or Morlock stories. Too many of them with no personality and when a power is needed, a Morlock we've never seen before is called upon. Case in point, an unseen Morlock has Mastermind's powers and greated and illusion for Kitty. Convinient. At least the healer was mentioned before. Leech is a mildly interesting fellow, but he didn't really do too much here. Kitty showed real maturity by living up to her word, even if it was made dishonestly out of desperation. She must be learning a lot from Wolverine. And the Beyond is still giving Xavier some troubles. That'll be resolved soon enough. I'll explain it when we get there.
Significata: Colossus is saved. Storm accepts Rogue. Caliban releases Kitty from her vow to live with him. The Beyond continues to cause Xavier trouble.
